Balun coaxial cable

In these baluns, impedance matching is achieved by connecting coaxial cables cut to a multiple length of λ / 4. These baluns operate in a very narrow range of frequencies (some units per cent), which in fact converts them into filters:

The baluns of coaxial cable are used mainly in VHF or UHF, since in HF the lengths of cable (some tens of meters) would not be practical.

In contrast, in VHF or UHF cable lengths are used between a few centimeters and one meter in length.
